Works In PROGRESS.

In-class assignment 1: supposed to be focused on painting the figure with shapes... I have a long way to go.

In-class assignment 2: We were told to 'paint with line' or 'draw with paint'. I think that this came out kind of cartoony, but I think I like it so far.

In-class assignment 3: use of natural or 'real' colors. Combine 2 of three techniques learned so far; expressive, line, shape. also blend and render the figure accurately.

Homework assignment 1: Expressive self portrait in monochromatic color.

Detail.

Homework assignment 2: 'Real' color, well blended.

Detail.

This fall I just started working with oils and I am loving it. In the past I have always used acrylic paints and always got so frustrated with them. I love how oils blend and how you can use them to layer. I am super excited about this semester. I am taking some really good classes and most of my professors are pretty awesome. I absolutely love my paper class. When I have some work done in there I will be sure to post it.

Some Old Stuff. . .

These are some old drawings that I recently came across. I love to pull out drawings I haven't looked at in a while. Its always so nice to look at your work with fresh eyes and it brings back memories, which makes me smile.

Painting Day!

Hey, so I have been working today on Ryan and Ashea's wedding gift. My sister told me that Ashea really likes polka dots, so I decided to run with that. It was so nice to finally get out my paints and have some fun.I'm amazed that I almost got it all done in one day. All I have left to do is to glue the flowers in place and finish it with some poly.

Getting Started...

I have finally started working on my first project for the summer and I am so excited about it. Usually for me, getting started is the hardest part so I think I'm doing good. I am going to do a group of small paintings for a wedding gift my sister is going to give to her friend.
I think I'm going to incorporate these pressed flowers in the paintings. : )

number two

Okay, so this is my second post and it's not much, but it is a start to something that I hope will be something worthwhile.

The summer has begun and I living in Marine Town, USA (aka Jacksonville, NC) with my husband, Josh and our friends Jessica and Kevonte. I started an internship at the Arts Council here in Jacksonville and trying to learn as much as I can during my time there. The director there has been welcoming and tells story after story about day to day events and of her life experiences. Some days have more stories than others depending on how much there is to actually do. My favorite day, I think, is when I got to help her hang Doretta Smith's show in the gallery. I'm looking forward to what else I'll get to do.

I have made a goal for this summer to painting more and be more productive instead of just keeping myself busy with things like cleaning and running errands, which I have found is so easy to do. But I am excited to see what this summer will unfold, and I already have one commission; my first commission ever. : ) My sister has asked me to do a painting for her to give to her friend as a wedding gift. This will be challenging, but fun too. I will be sure to post my progress through it all.

We'll see how I do, I suppose. Wish me luck!

A Start of a New Thing.

Hey guys. I'm just now starting out this blog thing and it's still a little strange to me, but I think in the long run it will be a good thing. Eventually, I hope to get to share with you myself and my artwork as it unfolds day by day. I want to encourage you to, if you like what you see, to email me , leave comments and tell people you know about this page.
Until next time,
Thanks!
